Why choose our Beni Ouarain rugs?

Our Beni Ouarain rugs are carefully selected through our different artisans in Morocco. They're all handmade with an excellent natural sheep wool quality in two regions of Morocco: at our Berber cooperative near Boujaad in the Atlas Mountains and in the countryside region between Rabat and Fès.

Each Beni Ouarain rug tells its own story. Some of them are my own designs, others are the creations of the Berber weavers. Most of the pieces are unique, especially the ones with the most intricate patterns. They're usually very colorful, although we have some white ones coming in regularly.

Even though they're all washed first in Morocco before being shipped to my showroom in Belgium, my team and I take care of the final cleaning ourselves before shipping the rugs to you.

What are Beni Ouarain rugs?

Beni Ouarain rugs are Berber rugs handwoven in Morocco with natural wool. Originally from the Atlas Mountains, made in white wool with the classic black diamond-shaped lines, it's essentially the weaving technique that differentiates them from other tribes' rugs. They have less knots than Mrirt rugs, but more than Boujaad rugs. Usually it's one line of double knots every 3 lines of weaving. The texture also feels different, being usually a bit more shaggy than the fur-like Mrirt rugs.
